I usually post these up, but I've been a little remiss this year... we've changed the format up a bit and started earlier, instead of packing all the rides into September/October. In any case there's still 2 rides to go, plus the meet the teams rides, which don't start until the weekend of the 11th.(for more info on meet the teams www.wsbaracing.com)
I'll be at both of the remaining rides, not only helping out and meeting riders, but doing helmet fits before hand as well! These rides are free.
Intro to Women’s Cycling and Racing Teams: On four Sundays starting in July (July 25, August 22, September 19, and October 10), a combination of women from many of the local racing teams will host rides similar to the Meet the Teams rides, with the exception that this ride is for women only, and each ride is hosted by women representatives from multiple teams. If you are new to the racing community, looking to strengthen your riding skills, thinking about racing, or looking to speak with other women about local racing teams or riding opportunities, this ride's for you! More information will be posted here by late summer.
# Time: 9:00 AM at Pert’s in Leschi. Prepare to be on the road by 9:10 AM. Please don't be late!
# Route: south end of Lake Washington
# Skills: pacelines, riding a straight line, and racing tactics/techniques. Depending on turnout, we'll break into groups no greater than 10 to keep it manageable and go over the basics, making sure to keep things fun and not stressful.
# Safety emphasis: Come early and have your helmet checked by a trained helmet fitter. This is a simple but important and often overlooked step that’s crucial for cycling safety. Look/ask for Eden in the Team Group Health jersey.
UPDATE: On Sunday, September 19, this ride will meet at Ron Regis Park in Renton at 9:00 for a special paceline clinic on Jones Road east of Renton. Plan for a 90-minue ride solely geared toward learning how to ride in a paceline, which is a fundamental component of riding your bike in a bike race. You'll learn how to be smoother in speed and bike handling when riding in a group, how to make an effort and then recover, and how to be more comfortable riding in a structured group. The focus of this ride will be on skills and not on interaction with team representatives. The ride is open to all women who want to learn or polish their pacelining skills.
