Hi Nanci - glad you posted this thread as I have been looking at these and wondering myself if they are worth the money.
Look forward to hearing how the girls rate them![]()

Hi,
Has anyone tried these shorts? What I'd like to know is:
Is the chamois comfortable and form-fitting, not overdone?
Is the fabric tough and thick and supportive, like Primal, or thin and see-through and delicate, like Trashy Cat?
Is the waist band comfortable?
How many panels are there?
They would be roughly twice the price of my current Primal favs, are they worth it??
Thanks,
Nanci

I think Veronica wears the Donna shorts so you might do a search on this site and they have the Donna bib shorts on sale at Sierratradingpost.com under cycling along with some other great deals.
The chamois seems to me to be thinner and better shaped. For example I find the PI chamois goes too far down the inside of my thigh. I don't have any Primal shorts, but my older Castellis are on their third season. I have one pair from this season and they are holding up fine. They are a six panel short. I don't notice the waist band.Originally Posted by Nanci

For a long day in the saddle (4+ hours) I choose either my newest Castellis or a pair of Sugoi RS Flex shorts. And lately I have not been using Chamois Butt'R either. Okay - so when I think about it - I don't wear any other kind of shorts.![]()
I would say I prefer the Sugois, but this year they used a contrast color on the seams that I don't think is very attractive on my body. The Sugoi material does seem to be a liitle sturdier.
Happy shopping!

Veronica - Interesting info, the shorts I wear at the moment are the Sugoi flex and I love them just wondered about the Donna shorts when I saw them here at TE. Good to get the info from someone who has tried both.![]()
Hmmm...I just got a pair of women's Sugoi Tri Power shorts, for triathlon, and the fit in the front crotch area is really weird, like baggy or something, so now I'm suspicious of all Sugoi shorts.
The Castelli bibs on sale at Sierra Trading Post are last year's model, XL only, but $55! I just don't think the bib look would be flattering on anyone XL...

I've never tried bibs. I don't want to have take everything off to "hunt for elephants." I guess on a short ride they wouldn't be bad.

LMAO - I've never heard that one before.![]()

Nope not yet!Originally Posted by CorsairMac
I have to credit Kim with the slang term though, it's not a Veronica original.

And I can attest to the fact that Kim is an expert hunter of elephants.Originally Posted by Veronica

, but unfortunately, I've never joined the hunt while wearing Castelli shorts.
