    Wetsuit suggestions?

    To disable ads, please log-in.

I've not been swimming with a wetsuit before, but am working up to my first sprint tri and would like to start training in the ocean here (Vancouver, BC). Any ideas for where to start looking for a wetsuit or what type to get? I'll be looking for a decent entry level one that can handle 50-ish degree water.

And, it just occurred to me: what do you wear on your feet?

Regarding the wetsuit, for cooler temps, you will want sleeves. Beyond that, it'll come down to budget and sizing and fit. I think Xterra is having a sale of some kind on their site right now, and since it's coming to the end of the season you might be able to find other brands coming up for sale.

Regarding your feet, for colder temps they have booties, sort of like socks, that you can wear. They make a difference for sure. Also, I'd recommend a neoprene cap, that makes a big difference, too.

Xterra is having a sale. I just picked up a sleeveless for 99 bucks. The sale ends soon, so pop on and check it out.

Xterra is a good brand that frequently has 50% off sales. They also have a very nice return policy if it doesn't fit you right. You can actually swim in the suit and then return it.

Promotion also makes a good, very reasonably priced suit. Their customer service is excellent. You can call and talk to them about your size, body type, etc. and not get the hard sell.

If you have a big size difference between your top and bottom, DeSoto makes a 2 piece suit. You can mix and match sizes to get the best fit. They do tend to be a bit more expensive.

Like any other clothing, different brands fit very differently. If you have any way to try on suits that would be your best bet.

You don't wear anything on your feet in a race. For training you can put on scuba booties if you need them. There are also neoprene caps that you can get to keep you head warm in cold water.
