    Ruby Saddle Vs Ariel

    To disable ads, please log-in.

Hello - like many of you, I'm in search of a new saddle. I've worn out my Terry zero X which I never thought was the ideal saddle for me anyway. It is worn on either side of the nose so I suspect it was always too wide (hence the chaffing).

I've been looking at the Specialized Ruby (143 cm) but just rode with someone who is happy with the Ariel SL on her rode bike. The Ariel is a little heavier than the Ruby but ultimately we are looking at less than an ounce. I'm not sure if it has more padding or not

Has anyone tried both saddles or have experience with one or the other? How does the padding of the Terry zero x compare to either of the Specialized saddles? Your feedback is greatly appreciated.

The ariel is a more comfortable saddle - it's a mountain bike saddle and has padding. The ruby has a little bit of gel padding, but there really isn't much to the saddle.

I use the base model ariel on my commuter bike, it's very cush with a lot of padding, I don't wear bike shorts usually with that bike.

On my mountain bike, I use the ariel sl, it's still padded, but lighter.

i've got rubies on my road bikes. At the beginning of the season, it's a little bit hard to get my butt toughened up to the ruby.
