    Hill climbing progress?

I was only able to take a short ride last night so went to my favorite park. There is a rather long (to me) hill there with several pretty steep bits - some of which are steeper than the others. For the really steep bits I did wind up down in the granny gear spinning up at about 7-7.5 mph.

On the NOT so steep bits however, I found myself gaining speed going UPHILL - where I used to suffer I found myself going an entire 14+ mph This is seriously cool.

Tis probably a combination of starting to be able to break through the resistance in a harder gear and learning to shift better - but it is progress and I am happy.

We will see how I and Fishback hill get along early tomorrow morning - it is the only hill in the region I've ridden for months that makes me walk it. Very short, very steep. Someone has painted a smiley face in the midst of it

Catrin, I'm so proud of your dedication and progress. I can't believe you couldn't even ride a bike less than a year ago, and now you are riding up hills at 14mph and going 60 miles! Keep up the good work!

    Thank you

I am amazed when I think about it.. and most hills I can't go up at 14 but the other day I did Do you realize that I didn't step over a bike for the first time until December 11 - and today I have a 67 mile ride planned?!?

Wowsers! I do like challenges, that is true, but I am just having so much fun!

    Thanks for the encouragement

I am concerned, a little, about being a DNF in October due to my speed for the 200k Brevet- but there is still some time to train Trying not to worry about it right now and just try and get my mileage base to at least 100-110 by early October. Kind of stuck at 60 miles right now
