    Eat your breakfast.

The headline is typical (noting only the results for males, who should not eat before a morning workout), but the conclusion is that women should eat before their morning workout.

    I know I need to.

I always eat before a morning workout. Typically 100-200 calories. When I first started, it was hard to train my stomach, but now I can eat before a workout easily.

Interesting. There was an article someone posted here a while ago that suggested that women don't store carbs (glycogen) the same way that men do. And, since we can't carbo load as effectively, we need to make sure we consume carbs along the way. My BF can ride for hours with just water (and he's quite skinny) and I need carbs in my liquids almost immediately. That study kind of agrees with this one that we need that breakfast boost right before the workout because we can't store it the same way.

I usually at least have yogurt before a workout.

Interesting article - I've sent it on to a handful of friends.

I always eat before any kind of workout. Depending on what I am doing I might start right away or wait up to an hour for the digestion to kick in. But if I don't have enough fuel in my engine to start with, I always get that "bonking" sensation. It might me psycological, but that is the way my body works.

I do not eat before my early runs ( 4:20 am), simply because I cannot tolerate the food in my stomach and I am NOT getting up earlier than that. I do try and gel before I go, that is about all I can handle.

I have to eat before I workout or bike. Real food, at least a small meal. My blood sugar plummets if I don't - not every time - but often enough that I have learned my lesson. As long as it isn't too hot that is not a problem, I am going to have to play it by ear since it has become so hot this quickly.

I don't remember who suggested the PB/Banana sandwiches, but they have quickly become a fav of mine before a really strenuous activity. I have my Cliff bars of course, but real food is a good thing (and I can only eat half of those at a time anyway). I have had one of these sandwiches for breakfast. Breakfast of Champions
