Bike fit from former racer reveals....

    I probably shouldn't be riding a WSD!

I've been back riding more aggressively a little over a month since being released from the ortho. I am getting manual therapy, massage therapy and physical therapy twice a week that finally seems to be getting at my groin and neck issues. YAY!

I met the husband of one of my cycling friends and he used to race for years and has tons of experience. He watched me ride and offered to check out my fit because he was seeing too much movement in my hips. My saddle was moved back and tilted up instead of down, and the seat post lowered. He also would like to see me go one size longer on my stem if I am ok with the changes we already made. Last night's group ride = A OK!

He says my thigh is short and my upper body long which is more like a men's geometry. While I dont think I am going to rush to replace my beloved Madone it was interesting to hear what I have kinda suspected. A lesson for next time perhaps since I think the changes we made are going to really help. Also I wasnt having pain but just not getting the most of my pedal stroke.

I have my first official bike fit on Monday night and this is what I am scared to hear. When purchasing my bike back in August I kinda just lept for the Trek 2.1 WSD. I love my bike. She is awesome. I just have a feeling that I am going to be told that I should have not gotten that particular bike. I have been having a lot of numbness and pain over the last few months now that I am much stronger and riding much longer.

I guess we shall see on Monday. But like you said, I am not in a hurry to replace my bike. I will have to make do with what I have until I can purchase my carbon bike at the end of the year.
