Island doesn't feel quite like an island

A vista familiar to Seattle-area folks --though it's abit northwest. On Whidbey Island near Deception Pass bridge.

We cycled into Oak Bay after getting off ferry.

I have to say unlike San Juan Island where we went 2 years ago, Whidbey Island doesn't exactly feel like an island...the roads are quite wide, etc. To me, it felt like being on Vancouver Island. But Van. Island is really a very large island, much bigger than Whidbey.

Anyway, it was a good ride yesterday. Right now it's raining..

I love cycling on Whidbey Island. And there's the annual Tour de Whidbey coming up next month on September 25th. If the weather is nice I'll be there.

And yes I agree, Whidbey really doesn't feel like you're on an island for some reason. It is a very beautiful area though. I love it!

Here's a picture of my daughter at Deception Pass. We were riding in the MS150!
