The Green Pod-Does your city/uni/workplace have these things?

This is way cool! I love the new Inventors show on the ABC

I read on the BNA forum that some of the above company's products are used at Macquarie university in NSW. Perth CBD could use quite a few Green Pods-especially in those buildings that don't provide showers etc...

How cool is that!!! We don't even have a shower and I park my bike in the hallway outside my office.

Very cool and all I can say is SHAME ON LONG ISLAND, NY and the LIRR. I live 2 miles from the railroad station (I commute to Manhattan). I should be able to ride my bike to the station. The LIRR had the DOT remove self contained bike lockers from LIRR property. These are not even at each station including the station that I park at. Whatever town had these lockers needed to move them down the block from the station wherever they could put them without causing another problem. The rental is $65.00 annually which to me is fine.

Needless to say, there is no bike locker near me so I do not ride my bike to the station. There are kids that hang around the station that have nothing better to do but vandalize. There is no security at least during the day.

Kudos to any town that tries to promote bike commuting. Unfortunately none of the politicians on LI are interested. I have written more than my share of letters.

Sorry that this turned into a bit of a rant.

Cool idea, looks like it needs some help on the execution.

You can't adequately lock a bike to those wall racks. No way in heck I'm locking by the front wheel only "D-lock compatible" or not. Gotta give me something where I can lock the frame and rear wheel (and then I'll secondary lock the front wheel to the bike) or I'm not using it, no matter how "pretty" it looks.

And in some areas even that's not enough. The locking, fully enclosed, bike boxes (like we have at our bus stations) are much better as far as bike (and stuff) security, and you can stack I'm guessing about 8 in a parking space (so similar density).

What a cool idea!! I will have to forward that one to the power than be here in the city. We do have a shower in our ladies room and they just recently put in bike lockers which is awesome. It is awesome to see these new ideas coming open for cyclists. Keep them coming!
