New: Trader Joes CHOCOLATE Hemp Powder

    To disable ads, please log-in.

Gals, you now have officially died and gone to heaven. Trader Joes just got in their new chocolate hemp powder, and for $9.99, it's super yummy and affordable.

I use my Living Harvest hemp milk, 1 cup, 4 tbsp of powder and a banana, and some honey, mix it in a blender, and what a great addition to my oatmeal at breakfast!

I'm gonna go to Trader Joes tomorrow and buy some hemp milk and choc. hemp powder. Sounds like a delicious drink. Thanks for the tip.

Unfortunately the Trader Joe's I went to in No. VA didn't carry choc. hemp powder, but I did find the powdered drink mix at Wegman's. So I tried it as you said and love it. Thanks again for turning me on to the drink. I'll be sure to share it with my friends.

Ok, enlighten me on hemp powder. What exactly is it? And why should I drink it?

Here are some of the benefits that I pulled off the internet.

I bought Nutiva, Choc. Hemp Powder - it has 11 grams of protein and 14 grams of fiber per serving. Hemp protein powder is a raw, certified organic food that contains 37% protein, 43% fiber, no net carbs. It also comes with the benefit of 9% beneficial fats (omega-3,-6, and -9 plus GLA), chlorophyll, vitamin E and iron.

And, if that wasn’t enough, the insoluble fiber content of hemp organic protein powder works to keep your blood sugar level stable, as well as ensuring that your bowel movements are regular. If you look on the ingredient label, you’ll see that all the carb content is fiber, making it perfect for a low carb diet.

If you blend the powder with a banana, Hemp Milk and add a splash of honey, you won't mind the taste at all. If you mix the powder with water, that'd take a little getting used to, I think.

    Enjoy!

Would using regular skim milk yield a good-tasting result? I'm okay with trying the hemp protein powder...not so much with trying the hemp milk. Plus I'm guessing that hemp milk isn't cheap...just like every other speciality product I've come across.

I would imagine using regular skim milk is a good option. I don't like to use regular milk (my choice) and drink rice milk instead, but give the skim milk a try. The hemp protein powder is good for you in any case.

The hemp seed is rich in omega 6s and 3s, and an 8oz glass gives you 46% of your daily calcium needs. Hemp milk comes in original, chocolate and vanilla flavors so a lot of choices. Yes, not cheap, but better than taking a stupid calcium supplement. I enjoy eating my vitamins in foods/drinks rather than pills!

It isn't... (nor is the protein powder, which is processed even more than the beverages) - but hemp and other nut/seed milks are a whole lot easier to make than soy milk, because you don't have to grind them hot.

No, I do not think it has an aftertaste like Soy. And I will tell you, I like the Rice Dream Hemp milk far better than the Living Harvest.
