Temporary fix for some saddle sores

I got my first true saddle sore this week. In the past it has been more chafing, not really a sore. This looked like the start of a pimple. It was red, a little swollen, and hurt when I touched it and when my clothes rubbed on it. It was also right on the panty line. I had a box of Target brand Up and Up blister care cushion advanced healing (Compare to Band-Aid Advanced Healing Blister) and decided to try that.

I put the bandage on Wednesday afternoon. The sore was just beside the crease between my butt cheek and groin, so the bandage had to go over the crease just a little bit. I thought there was no way it would stay put in that area, especially if I went for a ride, but it did. Today I did a 26 mile ride, and it was still firmly attached. You can leave it on up to 7 days, but I took it off in the shower. The sore is almost gone, not swollen, and doesn't hurt any more.

Obviously there are some areas that an adhesive cushion is not going to work, but luckily it did the trick for this one. I'm going to start carrying an antiseptic wipe and a couple of these in my saddle bag. I can think of one ride in particular that this would have been a lifesaver. Hope this helps someone out there!

    Thanks Lori!

I hadn't heard about these, but I am prone to a saddle sore in a particular area, so if it makes a reappearance this summer when I'm riding more, I will definitely remember to try these.

What a good idea! Blister block to the rescue.
