Look pedals, a question

I have been riding with shimano pedals (the platform ones that flip to clipped in) and used mountain bike shoes. I just bought a new bike and decided to get real road pedals, Look classics. I hate them. My left side has issues with IT band tightness, knee achiness once in a while and a tilted pelvis, yes all related. Should have told the bike shop these issues but I didn't think it would make a difference in the pedal system. Anyway, when I clip in my foot does not feel like it is positioned right and there is no real float. My old set up had me able to move my foot around and it felt fine. Is there a way to adjust the pedals or shoes to move my foot to a more comfortable posiition? Do other road pedals come with more float? Not sure if I should go back to the same pedals (they are on my other bike and I would have to buy new pedals again) I was using or look for a different road pedal since I spent money on road shoes. Between the pedals and my saddle, I hate my new bike.

Which Look pedals do you have and what color cleats? Different color cleats have different float. You may need a different cleat and an adjustment to the cleat location (just like any clipless pedal system).

Look has created an tool for setting up your Kéo Cleats for an optimum adjustment called the KÉO FIT. The system will help the cyclist choose the correct cleat that corresponds to their correct float based on the cyclists' pedaling anatomy.

The cleats that are available are the red cleats 9º, the grey cleats 4.5º, and the black fixed cleats. The device determines the cyclists' natural pedaling style and foot position for the most efficient pedaling.

Oh there is. You should experience some joy with the grey or the red. Cleat replacement isn't terribly expensive and you should be able to find someone to take the black ones off your hands as they do wear out after time.

It's true the other cleats have some float (I'm actually surprised you got the black, because the pedals normally come with grey), but float is not a substitute for fit. Your foot will turn that much without releasing, but it'll still have a bit of resistance that will torque your leg over time. Get your cleats positioned perfectly. I'd say do it before you switch to the grey or red cleats, even, because I think the adjustment will be easier to nail down without float. Then, take a sharpie (a metallic one if you have black soles) and draw around the cleats on the soles of your shoes, so you'll know exactly where to position the replacements.

Ok, I just realized I have the grey cleats not black. My pedals are black. Can you adjust the grey or is the float in there already? I am not sure because my feet feel locked in. I love my other pedals, sigh.

I had knee problems with Look Keo pedals that went away when I went back to SPDs.

I just bought a Look KeO Elle. Anyone have those here? Still haven't install it on my bike yet. Probably this weekend. So, how was the pedal? Do you gals like it? It was a little heavier than I thought.
