Just a personal observation over the years:
Generally, methinks teenage girls and women are more aware of their bodily functions. Women and teenage girls, pay attention to certain things in their body anywhere, that are wrong. Whether or not they take action for problems, is another thing.
Generally I don't think alot of men nor teenage boys, pay as much attention to their own health problems, until something escalates into something quite wrong with their own bodies/health. Exceptions are: men who engage in sports, have been injured, have lifetiime health problem (ie. epilepsy, diabetes, etc.) or they are much older men. These guys are probably are abit more attuned to their own bodies sooner because it affects their performance or because their long-term health problem requires them to pay attention to their body and health.
My theory is this:
Women are forced by monthly natural cycle of menstruation (and associated processses of pregnancy, birth, perimenopause and menopause) to pay more attention to their bodies, especially from the day when menses start as a girl and do something. We have no choice. From that process, emanates greater awareness of other bodily functions and problems. A greater tendency for us to 'protect' ourselves from bodily harm.
Whereas for men, other than normal bodily functions that both genders have (going to the washroom, eating, breathing, etc.), men do not have regular bodily function where it is beyond their control that they must become aware and do something.
I've mused this over with my dearie in the past. He doesn't disagree with me.![]()
