podium boys? there are podium boys??

So there's this photo at the top of cyclingnews.com's home page showing a female racer standing next to a guy in gold shorts...naturally I had to investigate. Turns out that women's cyclocross races apparently feature scantily-clad men on the podium.

Cyclocross (and singlespeed) are a whole 'nother universe unto themselves.

Yes, Carl Decker is one of our hometown riders but he usually has a bit more covered up.

The 'cross races in the mid-Atlantic region have some serious catching up to do.
"How about if we all just try to follow these very simple rules of the road? Drive like the person ahead on the bike is your son/daughter. Ride like the cars are ambulances carrying your loved ones to the emergency room. This should cover everything, unless you are a complete sociopath."

    uh - good lord

If I were on that podium I wouldn't mind a cute nicely dressed bike guy or two or three kissing me on the cheek (isn't that what podium girls do?) but to be honest, not lumpy hunks in tiny gold shorts...

That batman costume is hilarious. I don't think I want to know what it looks like from behind.

They look more like something off a Vegas review for other men, to me. Gold boyshorts? Really?

    Until now!

I have said many times that I don't need another bike sport, don't want to start something that requires storing another bike. I take it all back! Oh man, that is so awesome that words fail me. Love the gold lame, and I am serious.

    Holy Bleeeeeep!

I read the whole thread, first, before I clicked on the link... but, I was still shocked enough to have the above first posted words come outta my mouth.

Well, if that isn't enough to make a girl "pick it up a little" in the pedal stroke, I don't know what would lol.

The batman guy... do you think he shaves himself? Or does he have help? Must be pretty flexible for a man to get the razor whirled around those parts. Doesn't seem to even have a nick on him. Multi-talented fellow.

    Good post lol.

Where are the podium boys' tan lines? Those look like bike legs other than the lack of weird tan lines! Wait a minute..... no, lets not go there!

Floyd might not have looked too bad in the gold shorts, but I'll take what I can get
