How do you find the model number on a Shimano brifter?

Hi! I'm still trying to figure out the shifting problems on my new bike. I called the shop, and they were pretty sure they had put R600 levers on the bike...but they don't feel like it to me. I test rode another bike that had the R600s on it, and it felt very different (the whole unit felt a lot more comfortable and like I had more control).

So, how do I go about trying to find the model number on the shifters that are on my bike? I've looked on the internet everywhere - no info on where that model number might be.

    Thanks!

IIRC, it's under the hood near the shifter's bar clamp. Roll/flip the rubber hood back, and look on the outside of the plastic shifter body. You might need a flashlight or other bright light to see it. It will say ST-XXXX. You can then search the model number on Shimano's page.
