It used to be over at Haines Point... and it had a lot more space.
I liked it better over there.

I finally got to see The Awakening
How sad. Did they buy this piece or is it on loan?
It's on a small sand lot with barely enough room to walk around it.This is not how this sculpture should be displayed.

He was properly displayed at Haines Point.
This is a travesty and a sin against art.

That's terrible! I thought it was supposed to be a permanent move, but it looks just awful in that space.

I don't know how I feel about that. I can't bring myself to go to Hain's Point now that the Awakening is gone. And as a loyal virginian I limit my travel to Maryland
I guess one could be grateful that it isn't in Chicago or something like that. But they really should have left it alone.
jef--it's just across the bridge from you (an Alexandrian not trying the new bike/walkway on the Wilson Bridge? sacrilege!!)
I agree, it looked better at Haines' Point.

They bought it. My understanding was that the city never paid the artist for the Hains installation, and so the private co. building the new harbor area bought it from the artist and moved it.
It makes riding at Hains more enjoyable. Fewer tourists. However, there are more softball games going on, and foul balls make me nervous.
