    Tailoring Bike Jerseys??

    To disable ads, please log-in.

    Hello everyone,

I got a bike jersey for my boyfriend last night and it's too big. They don't have smaller sizes, and it's really a nice jersey. Does anyone know if I could take it to a tailor and have them take it in? Anyone have any experience with this sort of thing?

    Thanks

I routinely have my jerseys shortened and the elastic removed. I've had windvests taken in as have some of my friends, etc., etc., etc. I've got a jersey in the package to be shipped to Irulan as we speak, erm type.

Penny did an awesome job fixing up moth eaten cashmere. Those are my favorite cool weather jerseys.

    Thanks

I didn't realize you could modify so much stuff. Thank you for the replies. I'll have to have him try it on again and see if I can get some accurate measurements.

Irulan you have quite a business!! Thanks for the info. I will probably be contacting you in the near future!

IRULAN! That is SO GREAT! I just emailed your link to my brother... he has lots of jerseys etc that will need altering as he continues to lose the last of his weight... the really big ones he aready got rid of, but he's had to replace them with others that will soon be too big as well... BUT he's now within 37 lbs of his goal weight... thanks for that post!

    putting on my alterationist hat...

there is a point with weight loss where it's not cost effective to remake something into a correct size, but this remains to be seen. I've seen your brother's story on MTBR.

LOL yeah, and he knows that too... he has gotten rid of the huge stuff tho... and would only need the smaller stuff tailored... he emailed me back when he gt your sight and said he JUST got into the cycling jacket he bought and in 40 lbs it'll either be perfect or a little breezy... anyway, he said he'll hang onto your info...
