How to stay cooler than the average cucumber

So I get hubby out on the ROAD this morning for his FIRST non-organized, non-group, non-predetermined route ride...He rocks, we ride 24 miles full out and hard, we stop here and there, I teach him how to maneuver through a double traffic light and handle a 4 way stop and watch for potholes! He's great - yeah fast enough to hang with us on the next ride! AND he didnt go straight home and go to bed!

Before we left this morning tho, he decided he would try something. We have one of these

just wasting away in the garage, he fills it up, puts it in the water bottle cage, and attaches the mister end to the handlebar. It works GREAT! Im not sure if his is the 16 oz. They are 8 bucks or so at Loews - instead of the 34 they list on the website. This is gonna be a hotter than hell MUST! Ya get hot, just turn on the spray - its like riding through the fine mist of a sprinkler! I went and got one for my bike, it's a little smaller than the one he has and actually fits in the bottle cage better - now I dont have to worry if its over 100 degrees! Evaporative cooling rocks!

eta: No, I don't make any money off these!

Oh man did hubby and I need one of those this morning. We even left the house at 7 am to try to beat the heat. The nice thing about that time in the morning is only a few cars, and everyone's lawn sprinkler heads are going. Only a few actually hit near the road though to cool us off. The misty mate would have been great.

Thumbs up hot in a hurry

It is hot 85+ by 8:00 lately. 110 F by 10-11am This will be great in addition to the camelbak filled with ice and Cytomax. Will look into getting a twin pak for me and my honey! Thanks for the tip!
I have been slacking on my rides due to heat and feel bad for not getting out, but will feel worse if I were to faint and be clipped in.

Totally cool! Sure could have used one last weekend at the MS150. I was wishing those suspended soaker hoses they had at the rest stops could be magically suspended above our heads while we rode. Thanks for the tip!
