It happens. I know how you feel. I've been taking a summer class and it is so intense that I am not hitting my goal of 100 miles a week anymore.
Just remember there is always tomorrow.

Hi All,
Just wanted to share the fact that I didn't ride this weekend. It was gorgeous outside, but I was stuck in the house studying for my midterms.Hopefully I will get out this weekend.
Enjoy your rides.

Ever notice that 'what the hell' always seems to be the best decision?
Hey Fresh--
It's frustrating when you don't have time for the things you love ... especially when it's new and wonderful and you want to keep making progress. Don't let it get you down. Hope you have good riding weather this weekend. It's supposed to be hot as he!! in So. Indiana ... but I remind myself that cycling is a much better hot weather activity than running (which is my primary "sport.")![]()
Have a great time out there this weekend. Let us know how it goes.

It's going to be up to 95 degrees here in New York. You are right Shelley, when it's new activity you just want to take every chance possible to progress, but riding once in two weeks is not going to help me progress. I hope you all have wonderful rides this weekend, enjoy the sun, and put lots and lots of sun screen.

Hello All,
Yesterday ( sunday ) went on a ride to Old Westbury College on Long island, NY. It was awsome, it's my third ride so far ( unfortunatelly) but I enjoyed every minute of it. I went downhill at 25 mph, it was fun and I wasn't scared at all. I also learned how to check my speed on the downhill by pressing and releasing the breaks. I was struggling climbing the hills, but thanks to the fact that i do weight training I had to walk only once for a little bit ( climbing slow but steady). Although it was very hot outside, the place had a lot of trees, so it was nice and breezy.
My boyfriend did his first triathlon yesterday, and I am very proud of him. I admire his effort and dedication. I will start training with him for next summer.
Anyway, don't want this letter to become very long. Thanx to all of you for your support, this forum became a great place to share experiences and learn from you ladies.
Enjoy your road and trails, Marina
Hi there Marina,
We rode that Old Westbury College on New Years Day it it was an unseasonalby mild sunny day. Someone told my husband about it. We just rode the rode that went in a circle 3 times. Then we found out you can take another rode from that circular rode and it goes someplace but I have no idea where. We haven't been on it since. It is nice as college is not in session so the rode has basically no cars.
Well, given the warm day, I am sure riding those hills must have been much harder than us riding in January.

Hi there JoAnn, we did the same exact thing we went on that round loop 3 or four times. There were almost no cars, and few other riders. It was hot outside but since there are so many trees it was breezy. I had a problem with those little hills, but i did put my best effort in them. I am planning on going there next week also if everything goes by plan.
Keep me posted how things going with you.

Good for you Marina. Those hills do make for some good training rides and that is the first time I went into my granny gear.
My rides lately have been from my house. My husband who has off on Thursdays rode from our house to the Jones Beach bike path. It was 18 miles but as always there is wind going in one of the directions on the trail. Good for him it was on his back on the way home. We both have off on July 4th so that might make a good ride for us to do together. Unfortunately bikes have to stop at the parking lot and leave the bikes there if you want to go on the boardwalk. Since that is not an option for us, we just take our short brake and would just ride back home.
Actually yesterday morning we just did a short 14 mile ride from our house at 8 in the morning before he had to go to work and if I had my choice I would ride that early if not by 7 all summer long. It was great, hardly any cars, but plenty of other cyclists.
talk to you again soon, glad you were able to get in a ride this weekend.
~ JoAnn
