Found Campy Grease...

Inside a 2002 Bianchi Eros headset. Now I know that Campy grease still exists in modern times. I bought my last jar 20 years ago and haven't seen it in the US since. Now I'm hopeful that when I go to Europe this summer, I can find some and bring back a 20 years supply. I'm so happy!

The implications of Campy grease for the particular Bianchi I am overhauling are that the headset was still in fine shape after 6 years with no maintenance, and despite the fact that one ball was missing from the crown race.

Your posting is so timely....I'm starting to do maintenance again on my bikes and was inventorying my toolsets and such. I found 1/2 of a tub of the Campy grease I used to use. It looks like grease so I assume it is usable, but I was wondering if after 20 years it was still a good grease (i.e., do we have better formulas?). Reading this, are you telling me the beater bikes I'll be using it on will be getting top notch stuff not just old left overs?

Yes, Campy grease is top-notch stuff even after 20 years. Cheap greases will break down over that time. Open a 20 year old hub with Campy grease in it and it still looks and functions like grease. Any other grease that old I've seen turns into something closer to a solid. I've got a tiny bit left in one jar also, and it still looks like the day I bought it.

I have never lost a can of grease to sitting for too many years. One can I use for other purposes is from WW2, with no loss of tenacity.
I hope you have no trouble getting it! If you have trouble, look online?

I like this stuff... probably just because it's such a pretty shade of green. I may try and find a matching shade of paint when I am ready to re-decorate the guest bathroom:

I find Philwood grease too thin for use in bearings. They claim it's waterproof, but experience says otherwise. I do use it on cables.

I can just about feel it on my fingers, just thinking about it.

Personal lubricants should feel so good... How fitting that you found it in an "Eros" headset!
