Nancielle- she is just beautiful. And obviously you two love each other. It always makes me feel so good to hear about another shelter animal being adopted and given a 'furever' home.![]()

Two years ago today I was adopted by Chloe, a chow mix who had been through several living situations in a very short period of time (3 weeks) before finally settling into her "furever" home. Her description on the rescue's webpage simply stated "timid". Every other dog had little biographies. She had one word. In two years she's worked on shedding "timid" (still a work in progress) but has definitely allowed her personality to finally shine through (even the bratty parts). She sheds fur like it's her job
, doesn't like the Maltese across the street
but has a soft spot for the young King Charles Spaniol a few houses down
. She hates baths but will allow me to brush her until my arms fall off. She'll chase squirrels and is daily flummoxed by the resident woodchuck.
She was an early birthday gift to myself and definitely a gift that has kept on giving.![]()

Awww. She's pretty too. Brushing means lots of love and attention. Am glad she's settling in to her "furever" home. And that you had the patience to work through her trust issues.
Happy Anniversary!!!!![]()

Rescue dogs are the best (I have 4 of them, plus 3 others who have crossed the Rainbow Bridge).
Awww, such a wonderful story! Thank you for sharing!! I hope you have many long and furfilled years!
I had a chow mix who was perhaps the sweetest dog I have ever had. My daughter was 4 when we rescued him from the Albuquerque pound and from day one he would tolerate anything from her. She could even ride him (although I did discourage that!). Losing him was hard.

My son called today and said his wife called (he's away from home right now) in tears, because Mike, the rescued Weimaraner, stole an entire uncooked roast off the counter and ate it. It's not the first time. He also gets in the trash and poops in the garage on occasion for no rhyme or reason.
Since they have a 4-year-old and a 4 month old baby (who also happened to be crying non-stop today), my DIL has HAD IT with this dog. It's just the wrong dog for the wrong time in their lives (they have 4 other animals, so it's not that they don't know how to deal with animals). So, I'm looking for another home for him.
Anyone want a 110 lb Weimaraner mix who's a little stubborn and needs a little more supervision than a young family can provide? I'll be happy to transport him from North Central Arkansas. He was a great dog when he lived with me for 4 months. PM me for more of his story. It's a sad one, with a happy ending.

Aw, she's a cutie. I have to admit a soft spot for chow mixes on account of my sweet pup Tioga. She was a stray about 6 months old and covered in mange when I found her. She's almost 15yo now.
The first couple years she spent most of her life under my bed, except with her hind end hanging out. Slowly, she came out of her shell although she still puts her head under the bed on occasion. She's turned out to be the sweetest dog ever. Not an aggressive molecule in her.
Last week she had surgery to remove some nasty tumor thing from the back of her tongue, but she's bounced back from the surgery really well.
Here's to many, many more years with your wonderful Chloe.

Perfectly said, Zen!Chloe and Ti-Ti are so sweet.
I have three, one of whom is 15 weeks old and squarely in the terrible twos of puppyhood. Let's put it this way: we will be replacing the area rug in our living room in a couple months, after we are certain she is fully housetrained in terms of peeing!! If it were possible, we'd buy bitter apple by the case. The next-to-youngest is 22 months old, which is still very much a puppy for a golden retriever. The oldest is a very active 9 year old. Three dogs, three personalities, never a boring moment.

What a lucky dog you have there! To have a patient friend who see's her faults as...well part of her. I hope you both have a long relationship together. Happy birthday.
Blessed are the flexible, for they shall not be bent out of shape.

Thanks all for your well wishes. I do think I'm a lucky dog. When I know that I've been not quite so good {the human would refer to it as being a brat} all I have to do is lay down close by where she can see me, cross my paws and look up at her with sad "puppy eyes". Works like a charm...she just can't stay mad at me when I do that.![]()
She also doesn't know that I've figured out how to use her computer. ~Chloe
{Yes I do know when she's been near the computer. The shedding fur doesn't limit itself to the carpet.} ~N.
Brandi, thanks for the birthday greetings.
Ti-Ti is adorable! She looks so sqeezable!![]()
