    Smile From Blisters to Blogs!

    To disable ads, please log-in.

A recent thread I placed, was asking for help with blisters, thankfully all the advice I was given paid off.

So, what with the New Year, I have started to keep a rough diary of each day, information of bike rides, positive and negatives of the day, the usual stuff.

I tried searching on the internet about Blogs but ended up very confused. All I want to do is just keep a personal type of Blog and be able to add small photos but without using FlickR or Photobucket, it will all be very anonymous I expect.

I am not that technical, so it has to be something easy and free, can anybody advise me please?

    Cheers.

Blogger.com is very easy to use. Take a peek at mine, or any of the others that TE girls have to see the variety!

I second KelownaGirl's blogger recommendation. I've been using it for over two years, and it really is simple to use.

KG - how did you get the site visitor count on your blog? I'd like to do that on my blog!

The counter that you can see is from gostats.com (free version)

I have also added a sitemeter.com counter. The count isn't set to show up on my page but I can log in and see stats about who came, from where, and when. Really interesting!

Damn, I knew I should not have started to try Blogging!

Nope, it's not easy, I thought I could copy and paste from a word document but that does not seem possible.

Then I thought I would edit what I had typed, all of one line and I could not edit it either.

Just bombed out of it, having a proper hissy fit.

I hate to be defeated on things, especially as it is probably quite easy.

What with woggles and toggles and gismo's for the computer I CAN'T COPE!

Am off to bed in a sulk.

..................but thank you for the advice, it might seem a lot better in the morning.

Blogger, wordpress.com, or live journal are probably the easiest. I haven't tried google, but that's an option too.

I really like live journal for what you're thinking of, because it has built-in mood settings and you can make entries public, available to all your friends (on live journal), available to just some of your friends, or completely private. BUT, I'm not sure you can upload photos without putting them up somewhere else.

I'm also a huge fan of wordpress as that's what I use and I'm very happy with it. I use the externally hosted version, but the free version at wordpress.com uses the same exact interface with the same great features and ease of use. You can definitely upload photos and they're really easy to manage and configure.

For editing outside of the software and cutting and pasting, I usually write in Notepad or Wordpad as they don't put on any formatting that will confuse the blog software. I haven't used blogger, if that's what you're using, but I know it works in Wordpress and would expect it to work in blogger too. Once it's pasted into the blog tool I just highlight things that I want formatted and select the button at the top for the type of formatting.

I think Blogger is the Google blog, as it's connected to Gmail.

Clock, I type my posts directly into Blogger and format them as I go. If you want to pm me, maybe we can figure out what's throwing you off.

kelownagirl, thanks for the info on GoStats. Fun to have a cool new toy on the blog
