    November 19 Rides!

Today I took my new bike down to the bike trail in Sacramento and did about 45 miles. What a sweet ride! I am still making little adjustments here and there, like saddle position, but overall, she feels great and I am in love!!!

There are lots of very busy squirrels on the trail right now collecting acorns and walnuts. Super cute, but kind of scary cuz they're running across the trail and they tend to freak out and change directions. A guy riding in front of me hit one...well, he hit it's tail. The squirrel ran off...his tail stayed on the trail . Lucky for both the cyclist and the squirrel (I guess). Now I understand why I sometimes see tail-less or short-tailed squirrels when I ride down there. I also saw 3 coyotes, 4 deer, and several big white cranes. Pretty cool.

I'm so glad you're enjoying your bike. Wish I could've ridden with you, but I was stuck inside the office all day (my office is a short walk from the trail). Those squirrels are little menaces! Last year I met a gal who had a squirrel try to run between her spokes as she was going downhill from Beals Point -- her bike flipped and she broke her collarbone. I'm surprised you didn't see any wild turkeys! We've had turkeys and geese galore lately.
