I was toodling around some neighborhoods today and came upon a man holding a toddler. They were waiting for someone to get off the school bus.
As I rode by, the baby said "Hi Mommy!"
Guess her mom rides a bike too, so now any woman on a bike is Mommy![]()

when I was running my first marathon in 99 I saw a toddler holding a sign that said " GO MOMMY". I shed a couple of tears because running son was also a toddler, so I felt like he was holding it for me. Odd, but I still remember being choked up by a total strangers kid??
I got that too, from a toddler with his dad somewhere - "Hi! Oh. You look just like my mommy, she rides a bike too" I just thought - well, good for her, chickie![]()

I can top all of these stories. My husband has very long hair that he wears in a ponytail, so when my kid sees a skinny person in cycling gear, wearing a helmet with a long ponytail hanging out behind, she immediately points and says, "DaDa!"
Ninety percent of the time, it's a teenage girl.
I had a toddler come up to me in a department store and wrap himself around my leg sobbing "momeeeeee", I think he was lost and thought he'd found his mom. I stood there for a second and then reached down to comfort him, he made eye contact and started screaming.Fortunately mommy heard the screams and came running (he was still clutching my leg), she looked at him then looked at me and as she was prying him off said "you look terrified, you're not a mom right?".
