    hey there! im a college student living in boston and have been riding for about 7 months but consider myself a very new rider... im trying to get my skills up for the impending DH season but unfortunately i am not familiar with a lot of the trails around here. i am currently riding an evil DOC and prolly wont bother getting an XC bike (well its mostly cuz im spending money on the DOC and the DH bike) i wouldnt want to hold anyone back or be a nuisance.. but if ur in the area and know the trails i would REALLY appreciate the help (its too hard to ride with all the boys... i feel like im holding them all back and that is no fun) but yea... pretty much any day of the week im willing to ride!!! let me know please

    Well, I'm too far away to be of much use

    Good luck finding someone, Ash...

    You got a local club there? They might be able to make some suggestions so you can meet people...

    We have a race every Saturday, but every Sunday, two bunches go for a more leisurely training ride - one more faster than the other...

    Maybe you could find something like a our Sunday bunch rides if you don't want to jump straight into organised events...?

    www.ridemonkey.com is a DH specific MTB board that has both regional forums and womens ( mud hunnies) There is a pretty good east coast contingent there.

    Um, what does DOC stand for? I'm pretty sure you didn't mean "Department of Conservation" (which is all I could think of).

    Unfortunately I'm a died in the wool roadie - so I don't have any direct experience with mountain biking groups.

    Have you tried NEMBA (New England Mountain Bike Association)? They have a discussion forum (including a ride board section), might be a good place to hook up with some mountain biking women in the area.

    I had to go to ridemonkey.com to figure out the DH because other than Dear Husband all I could come up with was Deer Hunting season!

    Ashley, hope you find some riding buddies. Otherwise you could come out here to west Texas and we could DH off my DH's mesa where the wind turbines are, maybe even in DH season!

    DH=Downhill mountain biking

    the Evil DOC is so named for Evil's factory rider Chris Donahue. He called the bike that was prototyped for him his "Drug of Choice" ergo DOC. And since drugs suck i chose mt biking and the DOC.

    Really tho thanks for all of your suggestions! I go to Northeastern and rock out with all those peoples but unfortunately the one other girl on the team moved back home to connecticut.

    Ill check out those other sites tho! Thanks SOOOO MUCH!!!!

    Hmmm... thanks Ash and Irulan for the clarification

    I knew in this context it wasn't the family, but not a m-biker, not in your part of the world, i simply had no idea

    Cheers
