Affirmations: Fallin' in love with cycling again.

Seems like I experience this ephiphany/eureka moment several times each year.

When the weather is particularily perfect (for cycling), my heart sings while I'm cycling and think happily, "This is the best sport to enjoy this type of fine weather/views, etc. and see alot of great stuff for several hrs."

And this weekend was one of those times. It's these times, where one does want to drag along non-cyclists to share the joy on bike.

It's like falling in love with cycling all over again.

Yes, those perfect days are amazing. Our Eureka moments this summer, included discovering different parts of our city as we tried new trails. However, sneaking in a ride in marginal conditions and having it go well, as it did today, are my favorite! I could have stayed in my nice warm recliner, but my bike wanted to go out And it was worth it............

    Ain't it the TRUTH!

It happens daily with me and every time I think, "hey it just can't get any better".....and then it does!

Oh, me too! Lately, I've been thinking, this is the best sport ever, the bicycle is the best invention ever! I get so excited when I'm in my lbs, and a girl is buying a bike. I'm usually more excited than she is. I think I may even jump up and down a little.

I'm such a dork, but I love to ride.

Agree with all your comments! I took my 25 mile training ride at my local park today and the weather was perfect! 70+ with a nice cool breeze (we have a cold front coming in so by Wednesday the high will be in the low 60s) Ahhh, Florida weather is awesome for cycling this time of year. I saw several red-shouldered hawks, the usual kamikaze squirrels, turned in a dork to the park ranger who was actually feeding the squirrels directly on the trail in front of people - not sure if he was just ignorant or trying to cause problems. Anyway, the ranger gave him a lecture and then looked me up and thanked me for letting her know and that they would be enforcing the no feeding policy instead of just giving warnings from now on. She appreciated the fact that I ride there every day and said to report anything that I see that is illegal or needs investigation. Right up my alley since I have a low tolerance for people abusing wildlife and my chosen trail. All in all it was a very nice ride and felt awesome. The more I ride my bike, the more I appreciate the strength I am getting and the sheer joy and feeling of freedom I experience!

An email I received this morning from someone who used to work for me (names changed):

You never told me cycling was THIS much fun! I finally got around to taking Daughter's training wheels off and teaching her to ride in August. Like her mom, she often needs a little push to rise to her potential. That led to new bikes for Daughter (she looked like a clown on a clown bike on the old 16" frame) as well as mom and dad...and a trailer for Son...last month. I LOVE my Specialized Sirrus - a road bike with upright handlebars. Much has changed since my Schwinn Deluxe Varsity circa 1980 - including about 20 pounds of frame and wheel weight. It's nearly impossible for me to ride below 25mph now. Wife and Daughter love their Raleighs too. Daughter's riding like she's been doing it for years. Wife's bike is more of a cruising bike with the usual shocks in the seat and fork. What are you riding? We may need to come bike with you in Bloomington! Also, I've discovered the joys of cycling shorts (baggy ones) at Nashbar. Great company and website.

...and shaving his legs as well!

I was intrigued by his comment of being unable to stay under 25mph...I'm thinking - "is that with the trailer or without??"
