I'm a sucker for comeback stories like these. I would love to see these races on TV. Some might be online, I'll have to look when I get home later.

    I love these.

There was a Paralympic swimmer doing laps at my pool this summer. She was an incredibly beautiful swimmer. She was swimming when I got there and finished at the end of lap time, an hour and a half later. She never stopped. She was really spectacular to watch. And she had a great artificial leg she put on afterwards that had red-painted toenails on it. I expect it was custom made for her. I wish I had gotten her name so I could follow how she's doing in the games.
"My predominant feeling is one of gratitude. I have loved and been loved;I have been given much and I have given something in return...Above all, I have been a sentient being, a thinking animal, on this beautiful planet, and that in itself has been an enormous privilege and an adventure." Video coverage here

You might be able to find her in the swim coverage here:

It looks like some medals have already been awarded but they don't always say what division people are in. I watched a little of today's swim events . . . it starts with a visually impaired category and then goes from there.

It looks like they'll also be streaming live video early tomorrow morning of more swim events.

What amazing stories... I was struck by the fact that in addition to her accident-related injuries, Jennifer Schuble has MS; I'm doing my first charity ride in the spring, for the National MS Society, and she will definitely be on my mind as I ride.

I wish Paralympics coverage was easier to come by in general... I haven't found anything on television here, but I have been watching some highlights reels online. My boyfriend knows a guy who played on the USA Sled Hockey team in Nagano in 1998. I didn't even know there was such a thing as sled hockey until this week (!), and since realizing just how little I knew about the Paralympics, I've been trying to learn more about the many incredible sports in the Paralympics and the athletes competing in them. So, thank you for sharing these links!

You know, we had so little coverage here that I didn't even register it was on until I saw a huge photo of one of our medallists on the front page of a newspaper.
I asked my colleagues about TV coverage, and they said a highlights package was being shown at 11pm....

11PM... thats nighttime, in the middle of the week. Its a highlights package, not live coverage. I am furious it was scheduled so late and am going to be hassling the TV stations about it.

Courage does not always roar. Sometimes, it is the quiet voice at the end of the day saying,
    "I will try again tomorrow".
