Just make sure your biking days don't inadvertently turn into positive calorie days.
That lemonade brings up memories: does anyone know how Thai Ice tea is made?

Biking blasts you out of the ruts!
I've stopped at more restaurants in the last few weeks than I have in the last few years.
Yesterday it was the Saigon Vietanemese which is across the street from the LBS and the a bus stop. A review taped to the door claimed a unique method of spcing food. They bring a variety of condiments and sauces to the table and the customer adjusts the amount of heat they want.
I passed on adding any heat and instead enjoyed the delicacy of extremely fresh ingredients cooked to perfection with subtle flavor spicing. The Saigon Duck was superb and the lemonade deserved a photograph.

It's a little secret you didn't know about us women. We're all closet Visigoths.

I found this recipe online:
6 cups water
1 cup Thai tea
3/4 cup sugar
6 tablespoons cream
6 tablespoons condensed milk
In a kettle, bring the water to a boil. Place the tea in a teapot or glass container. Pour the water over the tea and let steep until bright orange in color, 3 to 5 minutes. Strain into a clean container, such as a pitcher (or, if in tea bags, remove the bags). Add sugar and stir to dissolve. Let cool to room temperature, then cover and refrigerate until ready to serve.
Fill 6 tall glasses with crushed ice and add tea to 3/4 full. Add 1 tablespoon cream and 1 tablespoon condensed milk to each glass.
Serve with iced-tea spoon so guests can swirl the mixture themselves.
Yum!
I like Thai Iced coffee, too.
Calorie, shmalorie...
Lookit, grasshopper....
Beautiful sillouette of a bicycle wheel.
Mudrucker, you win the prize for seeing the bike wheel in the lemonade.
As for the calories......shrug......caloriesshmaalories.....
Actually I've never eaten better than since riding the bike. I crave more fruits and vegetables, large volumes of water, and pass on "heavy" food. I was an Olympic carnivore but now the thought of red meat no longer appeals to me.
I suppose as the season changes that will change somewhat but now the habit has been acquired of eating more often and significantly less at a time. Hence the major weight loss I've experienced.
All of this is another reason why biking is so advantageous to those of us who think our metabolism has slowed down. It really does kickstart the system. And....even with only moderate exertion on a bike, when done for a long enough time the innards rev up like they haven't for years.
You know the TV commercial for Comcast with the turtle on the treadmill moving in slow motion at 1 millimeter per hour..... Yeah.....I feel like that......"Feel the burn."
