New Saddle...I think I'm in love.

I've been dealing with saddle issues. Well, the issue being pain! My seat had a cutout but it just wasn't wide enough. When I sat on a wooden chair with my elbows on my thighs (per TE advice) I discovered I did need a cutout, and I had a lot of pressure. Apparently I have virtually no padding over the sitbones and a lot more tissue near the pubic bone. After lots of research here and other places, I decided to try the TANDEMS EAST PAVE SADDLE. It has a wider cutout which is such a relief. I kind of wish the seat was a bit longer from cutout forward but it is by far the best I've tried.

I've done about 30 miles with it so far, another 16 to get home today. I haven't completely committed, but I think I'm in love.

Isn't it amazing how the right saddle just disappears under you?

I hope you really have found the right one for you

It took me a while to find it, but on 4/17 KnottedYet said:

"""You can also do the "do I need a cut-out" test. (sit on the front of a hard wooden chair in your underwear. keeping your back straight, hinge forward at your hips until you can rest your elbows on your knees. if your girly bits feel smooshed and uncomfortable in this position, you might want to investigate cut-out saddles)"""

Luckily, I read this when I was considering getting a saddle without a cutout because the one I had with a cutout was NOT working. But I did the little test and felt very "smooshed and uncomfortable" and when I started studying my saddle, I discovered the cutout wasn't wide enough.

    Thanks KnottedYet!

P.S. I love the saddle more and more each time I ride.

    Congrats on finding *your* saddle.

I couldn't find much information on the saddle. How wide is the saddle at its widest point in the rear? How wide is the nose?

    Thanks

When you find a saddle you love, buy another one! (or two!) (or three... and the bikes to go with them )

Saddles seem to change or get discontinued at an alarming rate. Buy spares!

I was JUST thinking I should buy more saddles AND the bikes to go with them!!

    Thorn-
I will have to measure the saddle when I get home and give specifics. There really was no information online about it, but it was $40, so I decided to go for it. If you call the company, they are really nice and clearly know what they are doing.
