There are some conditions and medications that can cause a person to not sweat. It can be quite dangerous and cause heat stroke! http://www.mamashealth.com/skin/anhidrosis.asp

Some people do just naturally turn red when hot though. My mom does. It can be quite startling looking, but its not dangerous. I do to some extent as well - I probably inherited it from her, but I have a more olive skin tone, so it doesn't show as much on me.

Would love to hear a medical opinion on this condition of your mother. It doesn't sound...quite right.

I know there's certain parts of me that barely sweat and relates more to the type of skin on that body part..one of them is my legs, since my skin has been quite dry, smooth almost shiny in surface. There is a medical condition for this type of skin which translates to fish scale skin. I have to use strong body lotion immediately after I shower and towel-dry.

Overall I sweat but not as much as some other women under same high temperatures and humidity.

The body wants to dump heat, and evaporative cooling works whether the body squirts the water out itself (sweat) onto the skin's surface or whether you spray it on with a spray bottle.

After my grandma had chemo and radiation for cancer she had a very hard time with heat because she couldn't sweat right. I remember she had a little battery powered fan and a little spray bottle. Seemed to work for her.

If your mom is uncomfortable, maybe have her try wearing a wet shirt while riding? Dribble water in through the vents of her helmet?
