Brooks saddle tryout...and a don't do this.

Thanks to everyone's suggestions on saddles to try...I ordered the Brooks B-17 and it arrived JUST in time for my husband's and I's bike trip to Austin...we loaded up the mtbs and rbs and headed out...we rode the mtbs on Friday and made a trip to one of the city's bikeshops to get the saddle put on by a professional before trying it out. After it was installed, we went for a tryout ride of an easy 10 miles...I had to tweak it a little bit heightwise, but it felt GREAT on my sitbones, even straight out of the box.
Today we jumped right out there on the "Dam Ride", a killer 32 miles up and down Austin's lake area hills, with a serious wind to boot and again, it did great. I think I need to tip the nose down a little because it did uh....rub...when I was in the drops. It looks a bit weird on my Ruby, but sort of cool too, with its honey brown color on Ruby's black and gold. In two weeks is the HHH in Witchita Falls, and I think it will be OK.
NOW, we had the MTBs on the yakima hitch rack, and the Rbs on the roof...and pulled in to get a cheeseburger and, yes, forgot they were there. My husbands RB got the worst of it...kudos to University Bikes who came to the rescue and made the necessary repairs. My computer died...but that was it for mine.
DON'T FORGET THE BIKES!

we broke a mirror off a bike doing that once. yes, we were lucky too.
