Did anyone feel up to a spin today?

I finally dusted off the Roubaix and hit the road after being off for 2 1/2 weeks. Got kind of a late start at 9:30 and thought well it's not so hot. I'll ride 30 miles or so. After all, it's only 91 F. Wrong! By the time I was finishing the last 12 miles it was 95 F and my speed fizzled out. Then I got hot and had one of those internal dialogues and got into a mood. I got to the car, loaded the bike, and headed for Sonic to get a big diet cherry limeade and a regular size fried ice cream Blast. The Blast was going to be split with the dogs because I knew they had to be hot too, right? Anyway, I averaged 18 mph the first half, 12.5 the return trip. Think I'll stay inside and read my mags.

Great job riding! I thought about riding, and then thought maybe I should let my sitz bones rest a bit after last weekend! My daughter wanted to go on a walk last night, so maybe we shall do that tonight instead. She has no bike as she out grew her other one, so we can't ride...yet.

I brought my hybrid to work with me yesterday and today and rode during my lunch break. Bosses are away, so I was able to sneak in a long lunch both days and ride for over an hour. Yesterday I went from creve coeur through university city to clayton and back- I forgot my water bottle so didn't stay out in this heat too long.
Today I had to go to another site, and forest park was conveniently on the way, so I rode in forest park for the first time. It was great because it was all on MUP paths, no traffic except for road crossings. It was also very hot today, but I had my water so was able to do a couple of loops.

I'm on vacation this week, I have planned to ride every day. THings don't always go as planned I've learned. Today was my first ride since last week. This morning DH woke me up, said it's getting hot out, so if you want to ride, get out now!. Oy, I am not awake and reluctantly got ready for a ride. The whole time I wanted to be back in bed sleeping. So I took a leisure ride, some hills involved for 24 miles. Stopped and visited with my mom for a few minutes along the way. Came back home and washed and waxed my bike under the shade of a large tree. She is spotless right now. The clean chain/cassette sparkle. My hands are stained in grease, hope that all comes out before the wedding we are invited to this weekend. I'm hoping the rest of the week is better. We are scheduled for a big bike ride on Thursday with some fellow co-workers then a BBQ after..I'll post on Thurs,

I had planned a 30ish mile ride today, but I lost all motivation as I started. I seem to be getting slower and it's so demoralizing. But, it was cloudy and only about 68 out, a pleasant change. I explored a side street off of my regular short loop I do and it ended up right near a shortish, but steep hill, I regularly do. The new street was shady and beautiful, but a climb. Not a granny gear climb, but, still a climb. When I got past the steep hill, I turned back toward home, but I took a couple of side loops to make it different.
15.4 miles, just under 15 average.
