Hola! Long time no see ladies. I've been hibernating, but I can't say it's felt really good. I'm just wondering if anyone out there is going through the same funk I am.

I finally resigned myself with a winter sport, and now, there's ummm, no snow. So there goes snowshoeing, on the upside though, it means I can wait until my MSR Lightning Ascents go on sale. In the mean time it means there is too much snow to ride anything but big gnarly hill climbs. Yeah, a little too out of practice for that!

So there are some races coming up and I'm so not ready, and not the least bit sure how to get ready. Oh sure I just about live at the gym, but I know I need to be on my bike. Spin class really is no replacement for long rides down country roads. Ah, that's it, I'm having a hissy fit because there is no way I can afford a road bike and I want one, now. *growls* I hate it when everything can't come together how I want it to.

Anyway, I'm just jumpy and stir crazy. Yesterday I just got off the stupid eliptical because I was sooooo bored. Insult to injury I was seeing this really cute little steer wrestler who stood me up for this huge awards banquet and then runs into my friend at a bar and tells her I'm a loudmouth, and that I run my mouth. GRRRR! Why do guys suck? Oh well, least this one showed his true colors before I got too attached. Yeah, he can take his "sweethearts" and "darlins" and stick those where the sun don't shine.

Somewhere, there has to be a guy who wants a mountain biking, horse riding, snow shoeing, back packing, fly fishing kind of gal, right? GRRRR! It's not like my life won't go on without a guy, but darn it, if you persue me, you best not turn tail and run when you realize I'm more man than you'll ever be!

Anyway, thanks for listening to me gripe. Now I gotta go home and kick out my lame roommate.

Poor smurfalicious - all sounds like a bit of a drag at the moment. I went through a similar phase towards the end of January. I've been unemployed since June and by Christmas it was seriously starting to send me crazy, not to mention my BF work away from home all week so I'm on my own a lot.

But things now seem to be on the up. The weather here is still a bit duff, but if you look closely you can see spring really is on the way. Each night it stays lighter for just a few minutes longer than the day before.

We don't have any snow here, but it's quite grey, dull and dead looking, until I took a stroll round our local park. Sounds kinda cheesy but there were loads of little buds on the trees, very small, but definitly there and new little shoots of plants are coming up through the mud and grass.

Only small things but they reminded me that spring is coming - they haven't forgotten about it, as I was begining to suspect - and EVERYTHING seems better in the spring, including all those guys who are looking for a mountain biking, horse riding, snow shoeing, back packing, fly fishing kind of gal.

Hang on in there - not long now.

I can relate to that ... here in central and northern Wisconsin I've been able to snowshoe on a daily basis since the week before Christmas. The snow was decent until two (or was it three) weeks ago when we had two gorgeous days of 50 degree weather. After two days of biking outside I was ready to go back to snow shoeing knowing full well that expecting spring in Wisconsin in early February is not realistic. With a couple inches of new snow and more forecast for Sunday I think I might be back out making tracks this week-end.

I try and not get too envious of the posts talking about 50 and 60 degree weather and wishing the rain would stop so you can bike ... but spring is on its way and I for one will be darned glad to see it arrive!

Hey ladies, thanks again for the support, as usual. I actually met that guy, who can appreciate a mountain biking, cowgirling, all around kick butt girl, but he's about like trying to rope the wind. I met him through mutual friends, and they think my little crush is amusing.

I'm trying to ponder a way to afford a road bike, Joshua still has his GF's "old" '04 Specialized Allez comp in *my* size and I'm sure he'd take $1000 if I had the cash in hand. If I'm thinking about it that much, it must be meant to be, right?

Ugh, I need to get working on the single speed, she's gonna have helluv soul and it will make me feel good to "finish" something. Ugh, specialized has this sweet BMX/urban bike this year that's YELLOW and I want it. Mmmmm, retail therapy.

*laughs* As for you Trek, I haven't had a girlfriend in ages. Not for lack of wanting one, or prefering one, just that they aren't as ripe for the picking around here. I live in podunk ville, so for the sake of convenience I'm working on finding a guy who isn't a total arse. The chics around here try too damn hard to be as obnoxiously liberal as possible. Hello, I voted for Kerry too, but could you bathe please? Please? Bah! I shall be single with horses and dogs forever!!!!

    Cool

smurf, if you can't rope your cowboy....my local bike club Velogirls has a weekly co-ed ride called the "meet your mate ride".

Don't know the statistiscs for actual mates met, just a nice ride, no pressure, very casual but c'mon down and meet some bikerdudes sometime ;-)

I agree, I think relationships are the single hardest thing we do and friends are so important. Good friends will get you through times of no relationship better than a relationship will get you through times of no good friends.

Sure, it'd be great to find a gal to ride off into the sunset on the custom Calfee tandem on with but uh, smurf? who writes

"*laughs* As for you Trek, I haven't had a girlfriend in ages. Not for lack of wanting one, or prefering one, just that they aren't as ripe for the picking around here."

uhm, wasn't talking about you, smurf ;-)

Not that you aren't fabulous and all.

For one, I can't afford your love of bike porn and for another can you imagine the drama on the board???!!!??? Nah, thanks. Trek, keeping TE drama free.

"The chics around here try too damn hard to be as obnoxiously liberal as possible. Hello, I voted for Kerry too, but could you bathe please? Please? Bah!"

ewwww. :::walks off takes *another* shower using the organic-soy-fair-trade-not-tested-on-animals-hand-made-in-a-union-shop-in-a-scent-free-enviornment soap which I bought at the collective while riding my bike with the "no blood for oil" and "one less car" stickers and carried home in my recycled hemp bag.

love me, love my dog, and my bikes, and my next bikes
