    Century Advice please....

    To disable ads, please log-in.

    I'd like some advice please.

I have been training for a century ride on 6/7.

Heres what I have left and how I have it scheduled:

5-16 (Friday) I plan to ride 70 solo.
5-23 (Friday) I plan to ride 50 with a group. Do another 20 solo??
    5-30 (Friday) ????
    6-7 (Satruday) Century ride.

On the 23rd, should I ride 50 with the group and throw in another 20 solo? How many miles should I ride on 5-30 if I ride 50 the week before? How many if I ride 70?

I am putting in a run or two between bike rides and sometimes a short ride here and there.

    Thanks for your advice.

What are the rides in between the long ones?

In my experience if you can do 35-40 any given day, without it being something you have to recover from, then a century is something you can approach with vigor and enthusiasm. (The more you'd have to recover from the 40, the more you have to plan for breaks in the century

When you're at the point where you can knock off 70 on the weekend before, you're ready.

Much depends on *how* you want to do the century, of course. Five hours or 10?

    And don't forget to taper.

I, personally, think you'll be be fine riding 50 to 70 miles on 5/30 regardless of what you do on 5/23. You've got a whole week to rest your legs, which is more than adequate. If it were me, I would cut out the runs the week before the century, however, and just do a couple of short and easy spins.
Live with intention. Walk to the edge. Listen hard. Practice wellness. Play with abandon. Laugh. Choose with no regret. Continue to learn. Appreciate your friends. Do what you love. Live as if this is all there is.
