What Organized Ride Will You Be Riding In This Weekend?

TGIF everyone!

Well it looks like it is going to be a beautiful weekend here in the pacific northwest! Starting with today. Too bad I have to work today because it looks like a great day for a morning ride!

On Sunday is the annual Peninsula Metric. There are two start points. One is from the Gig Harbor Medical Pavillion in Gig Harbor. The courses from this start point are the 44 mile loop with views of the Puget Sound and beautiful back country roads (that are very hilly), the 100k (62-mile) loop, and the challenging 100-mile loop with more than 7,000 feet of elevation gain.

The second start location is from the Southworth Ferry Terminal in, where else but Southworth, WA! This has the shortest loop of 29-miles along the Puget Sound and rural roads, and the same two loops of Gig Harbor the 62 and 100 mile loops.

Joe, Jackie, and I are going to do the 44-mile loop. Joe is not in shape for the 62-mile loop so Jackie and I will settle for the 44 miler. We just want to get out and ride and to have FUN!

So are there any events in your area that you will be riding in? I would love to see what rides will be taking place this last weekend of May - firstweekend of June in other areas of the country/world!

Or will you just be doing your "own" thing/ride this weekend. I would love to hear about your weekend ride plans! The season is here! Let it begin!

I'm doing the ROMA Bike Tour for MS on July 5-6. But I'm starting practice rides this weekend. I'm very nervous, I've never done a tour before. It's 110kms.

We have what is called "Outdoor Sports Fest" going on this weekend...they have it all: running (even a young girls race that many little gals have been training months for...very encouraging!) cycling (all sorts...mtb, road, bmx, uni), climbing, adventure racing.......

We will be doing a road ride that benefits Meals On Wheels on Saturday then going to the gear swap on Sunday (hoping to sell a few items...and maybe come home with some new un-needed toys)

should be a fun weekend!

Doing the "Tour de Hoot" down at McGehee, Arkansas this Saturday... first time they've done a century down there, and my first big ride event of the season, other than the winery thing the first of this month...

I am doing the Tour de Cure (round these parts it's the "Tooah de cuah") Narragansett - 100 miles (I know I know, how does one do a hundred miles and still stay within the state of Rhode Island?) for Diabetes on Sunday.

Weather forcast started out looking bleak but by today they are saying it will be good.

Doing a 50 mile ride for MS on Sunday. Second time my brother (who has MS) and I have done this one, but the first time for my cousin. Supposed to be overcast, which is ok. I'd rather that than baking in the sun.

Here in the southeast, we've already had a few event rides--before it started to heat up--high temps forecast in the 90s this weekend! So tomorrow, it'll be a fairly mundane Juju-Sally-Chris 45-mile out-and-back through Blackwater River State Forest. It's a nice tree-lined route, though, with plenty of shade from that killer sun.

For weekend, I or us, (now that he's back home from Europe), we do our own route-planning/rides.

Each ride over every weekend, ranges from 42-85 kms. daily. Tends to include grocery shopping near the end --on bike. I like to start early in morning.

However in a few weeks, we are planning to do our own annual cycling loaded cycling trip to Vancouver Island which will include some winery stops,etc. It seems to me, depending where we go /see on that trip each year, each trip is approx. 250-300 kms. over 3 days.

Other plans this summer and into fall are still being hammered out for details, accommodation bookings..but no real multi-day organized group rides. We just make up our own long routes and ride with our loaded panniers.

We don't have a car so we don't offer sag support for each other.

well...long time lurker, first time poster. No organized ride this weekend. I am hoping to get in 50 miles tomorrow and 70 miles on Sunday in preparation for next week's Albuquerque Century. Did Santa Fe (my first century) on May 18th...so feeling fairly confident for next week (hope I just did not jinx myself).
