Melon Metric - Plano, IL

I received a brochure for this ride while attending another ride in Illinois last month and was thinking of doing it.

Has anyone else ever done this ride before ... or planning on doing it this year? I was hoping to get in a century ride in July, and this is about the only one that I can fit into my schedule.

It's a bit of a drive from Milwaukee, but it sounds like it could be alot of fun.

$18 registration fee? and watermelon? What's not to love about that?

My SO has done it and said it's a great ride, this will be my first "Melon".

I just got invited last night by my young niece to attend a Brewers baseball game that same day. She received free tickets for getting on the honor roll, so I can't disappoint her. I guess I'll have to put that ride on my schedule for next year.

Have an extra slice of watermelon for me !!!

I had not heard about this ride before last week and actually rode the 100 mile route. It was a blast (I'm sore today), great rest stops (5 for the 100 miles), nice route and a beautiful day to boot. I will do it again next year.
