    Worth checking out.

Some of you know, some of you don't, but Athletes for a Cure has been very good to me over the last year. And I want to say thanks. But I also want to invite you all to take a look at their donation/prize program.

Before I go any further, understand that AFAC is a non-profit entity that raises funds for prostate cancer research. Yes, a men's only cancer. But I want to say 2 things. First the research done benefits all types of cancer, not just prostate. Second, I have a husband, 2 brothers, uncles and male cousins. Unfortunately, I've already lost my father to cancer. Since 1 in 6 men will be diagnosed with prostate cancer, chances are that someone close to me, to any of us, will be one of them.

I'm throwing this out there as it may be a mutually beneficial program for many of the athletes here.

Some of the things AFAC has done for me:
Provided me with a tri suit for IMC last year
    Helped me with coaching
Allowed me to spend an afternoon hanging with Michellie Jones
Got me a pair of Newton Shoes
    Helped me with travelling costs
Gave me an opportunity to feel like I was actively doing something for the cause when my mother was in the hospital having surgery for her cancer

BTW - if you look really closely at the photo of 6 people on the right hand side of this link, you'll see 2 women, me and Michellie.

Wow, I had never known about this organization before. I checked out the website, and the program is pretty neat. Thanks for this post.
