I am a new member and thought I'd introduce myself. I also wanted to enquire about any other members in my geographic area (sometimes I don't want to ride with just guys...). Anyone out there anywhere close to Placerville, California? I occasionally make treks down to the valley (Sacramento) to ride where it's flat and would love to hook up with some ladies who like to ride, chat, eat big salads afterwords, and generally have a good time just riding but don't get too awfully wrapped around the bottom bracket about speed/time/pace, etc. I am a former long distance runner that finally got used to the idea that maybe I couldn't run like I used to anymore, though I occasionally still get misty-eyed about going out and running for 4 hours!

Anyhow, I look forward to getting to know all of you through the forum. I am planning on doing the Cinderella this year and am looking forward to meeting the ladies from the Bay!

Hi, there! I'm in Davis and I think Xeney is in Sacatomato though we've never met.

Are you a roadie? Our group is all over the place speed and conversation wise but we probably cruise in the 15-18 range if we're paying any attention to riding. Just depends. If our lovely Davis winds are blowing, it may be around 5 mph. You can always join us!

We mtb up at Fleming Meadows, Salmon Falls, etc. If you're into that, you can join us also.

    hello yellow,

I don't often get up to your area, but plan to do the Cinderella this year. Watch for lots of messages as we get closer to the date, we'll probably set a time/place to meet before or maybe after or both.

    SadieKate,

I ride both, though I fancy the road a bit more. I ride up at Fleming Meadows too...love it up there cuz I can just do butt kicking laps (I'm still pretty new to the whole MTB thing, so it's a good place for me to "practice"). A fun long ride mostly on dirt roads is the Snow Mill Road loop, which starts in the same area. Done that one?

15-18 is fine by me. The group I ride with consists mostly of men, several of them very talented riders. Every now and then I get sucked into their 22-23 mph matches...and usually can't keep it up unless they are dragging my butt!

By the way, check out the website of our local rides at www.beautifulvista.com. I think the snow mill loop is on there.

Wind...We don't get much of that up in the hills and whenever I go ride somewhere where it's normal, it always flips me out ("HEY...what the heck is THAT??? )

Cool! PM me with an email and phone number and I'll let you know about our next group ride. Of course, the weather, my cold, etc., will have to cooperate. We wanted to ride up Diablo on NY's Day but I can barely breathe right now.

Mention of rootbeer in the home fridge seems to be a big motivator in the summer. Avg speed skyrockets at the mention of it and we're in the 20s. You gotta like wheelsucking or you won't get any!

Riding in the wind -- it's all headology! Makes you strong (or masochistic).

welcome to the Board yellow - nice to meet you and I hope you enjoy it as much as we all do! (oops...there I go being arrogant again speaking for all these nice quiet ladies! )
Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, champagne in one hand, strawberries in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming: "Yeah Baby! What a Ride!"
