    Mechanicsburg, PA rides?

I'm in Mechanicsburg, PA for a conference, and I have some free time to go for a ride. Does anyone know of any safe road-bike friendly trails I can ride on? I have a cue sheet, but it looks like it is all traveled roads. So I was just curious if there are any dedicated MUT routes around here. Or if anyone has any favorite, safe routes I'd appreciate the ideas. Other thing is I need to try to stick to flat areas because I'm having to re-strengthen my knee and so I have to take it easy. Thanks!

I grew up in the area. Bike facilities *may* exist (or may have been built in the 3 years since I moved away) but if they do, they'll be well hidden. The local Recreation department would be in charge of paths like what you want, and they'd most likely be a rail trail. Problem is I'm not sure there's any unused track that could be converted *g*.

Use Google maps to check the cue sheet, and if there's lots of "yellow" roads, I personally wouldn't use it. Little or no shoulder and 45 mph traffic is not a good situation for a cyclist who mostly goes 12 mph. The side streets and residential streets should be fine.

I did part of the cue sheet today. It was a nice ride. More hilly than I should have done, given my knee problems. But the roads were nice, the traffic was very light, and the scenery was beautiful. I really wanted to push the tempo, but oh well. Thanks for the help, Torrilin!
