    What's the best way....

To tell your coach they're not cutting it anymore?

Maybe a little background will help....

I hired a coach for $350 a month (ouch) which includes an online daily log, training schedule, email contact (as necessary), an annual training plan, and one hour of phone consultation a month. However, I just don't connect on any level with the chap. He's highly competitive and on "training rides" they become interval sprints and excuses for why I beat him (bad hip, shoulder, leg, hamstring, bike, etc etc).

We don't talk on the phone because I find the conversations to ramble and go in circles. Simply, I just don't connect with the fellow and want to fire him in the most diplomatic way... any suggestions?

    Thanks a million.

Don't hint, don't beat around the bush, be current in your payment, do it over the phone and be resolute in your decision. Thank him for his time and say goodbye.

Thanks Veronica. It went really well. Here's a blurp from his response....

Contact is important, but having an appropriate training plan and schedule is also key. The Quarterly plan I offer is $450.00 for a 12 weeks schedule. I would be happy to include some extra phone time for you above what is normally included too as an extra incentive. That 12 weeks would take us through most of the time that I will be out of the area and will keep you on the right track with a specific training plan.

Let me know if you would like to talk about that and I can give you more details on how that works.

If not, I'm sorry that you won't be using my advice and help. I've enjoyed working with you and was looking forward to helping you kick some *** next year.

Thanks for being a fun client!
