    Question Cycling tights...

I got a great pair of PI tights at the Trexlertown Swap Meet last weekend, but now that I think about it, what do I do with them? They don't have a chamois in them, so now what?

Most people wear cycling shorts underneath non-chamois tights.

Yes -- cycling shorts underneath. The non-chamois tights are nice b/c you can use them for other sports (running, xc skiing), as a base layer for other activities (hiking, sitting around the campfire), and if it's really cold, layer a couple of pairs of tights of different weights to get yourself through a frigid winter ride. Stacking chamois might not work so well

I know it's not for everyone....but I just throw my chamois shorts on TOP of regular long tights, with no problems.

That probably works because you're an undies typ'o' girls. Without undies, most tights are really NOT comfy (seams in the WRONG place).

Just as long as you don't wear your tights with cycling shorts on top and then underpants on top o' that, everything should work out just fine

well, puttiing shorts on under tight also gives you layering ablities (important if you do all day rides with temps varying from 35 to 75 )

Funny you should mention that . . . At the Konocti Challenge a few weekends ago, there was a gal riding with a pair of bright pink undies on the OUTSIDE of her cycling shorts!

I am a year-'round chamoised shorts underneath non-chamoised tights kind of gal.

Thanks for all of your takes on this issue...although I don't think I'll be copying the "pink underwear on the outside" look!

At a big bike tour I joined (2200 people) there was a group of folks who wore red thong underwear on top of their black shorts. Cheaper than a custom jersey!

Well, if you are going to invest in really nice undies, why not wear them on the outside? You get to show off your pretties, and they don't rub you to hamburger under your shorts.

    Hmmmm...

Maybe it was a tribute to the 80s aerobics scene where tights were worn with the underwear/leotard things on top. hmmmm

"Cheaper than a custom jersey" - hahahahahaha THAT's funny!

Anyone have a recommendation for low rise tights with or without the chamois?
