cork grips

OK...
When I bought my Albatross bars, I also got some cork grips which I have dutifully shellaced with amber Bullseye, per Rivendell...

I want to put them on, but don't I have to glue them on? What kind of glue? What if I need to switch the shifter/brake configs? Would I have to then cut them off 'cause of the glue???

Can I just do the alcohol thing and get them off if I need to?

I wound some Self stick athletic tape on the bars so I could test it out..(Ma!!! NO Pressure anywhere!!!)

I'll probably put my old leather grips on so I can ride it this weekend and put the cork on when it's set up the way I want it...

Just call Rivendell- they have lots of experience with this very thing and can give you the best advice. They are very friendly folk.

Doesn't the cork tape have a two sided tape down the middle on one side? If not, I guess you could try a thin layer of rubber cement on the bar not on the tape. Let it mostly dry out then apply the tape. I don't know if this would work or not... I've used synthetic tape from Cinelli and few others but they all had a sticky double sided tape on one side.

She is talking about cork handgrips, not cork bar tape. But yes, the cork tape does have a line of adhesive running down the middle- no need for glue, except maybe at some little troublesome stubborn edge or corner somewhere.
