    Review: Blackburn Light Combo

Got this taillight/headlight combo at my LBS for $33.

I have so far only used these as "see-me's." ("hey, cars, see me!" as opposed to me trying to see in the dark) They seem to be quite brite, and the adjustable flash mode lets you choose the blinky pattern so you don't worry too much about hypnotising drivers and making them steer toward you.

I'm quite fond of the side yellow LEDs on the taillight, and the side white LEDs on the headlight. I also like that you can "flash" the side LEDS seperately.

The headlight is large (that's how you get the nice large lit target) but I had no problem fitting it on my bars. The only other thing on my bars is a bell. If you have a computer you might need to put the light on the other side.

The taillight is not all that big. (I have it vertically on my seatpost) It is surprisingly bright for its size. The side-facing LEDS in yellow really are a nice touch. It does have a belt clip, so if you are wearing a skirt or something that covers your seatpost you can move the light onto your clothing.

The set uses standard AA and AAA batteries. Some come with the set but you need to put them into the lights. You need a fairly small Philips screwdriver to work on the battery cover for the taillight. (or use a regular size and just swear quietly and patiently under your breath.)

I will be needing a light sometime. Let us know how the headlight works for seeing as opposed to "see me".

I've seen taillights like that somewhere

Right now I have this tail light, it's VERY noticeable in the dark
