    Climbing Club - July Goals

    It's that time again.

I've been pondering my goals. I thought June's would be quite doable.

We're planning a couple of trips so mileage and climbing is unknown. This is kind of climbing related, I'd like to do my push ups ( as soon as my elbow is a little less sore) and ab work at least twice a week. I hate doing it, but it really pays off.

Finish the Death Ride without killing anyone.

I expect about 20,000 feet. I won't be riding much this month aside from DR. Then I have to jump in and do MTD without too much training Aug 4 or 5. Oh well. We're getting the band back together!!! So I will have someone to ride the first part of MTD with.

I think i'm going to shoot for 20,000. I need to scale back due to the heat.

I am going to shoot for 40,000ft of climbing according to Motionbased. Which I assume should put me squarely in the 30s and about 10% above what I did last month...

I am shooting for 20,000. This would be an astounding amount for me, but I have a 7,000 ride planned for this Friday, so I'll know more after that whether 20,000 is doable. (worried frown)

    Got in 1900 yesterday.

This is the last month before the Shasta ride on August 5th, so it is do or die time.

Woohoo! Did 7300 yesterday. Most ever climbing in one day for me. With the 1900 earlier in the week, I am up to 9200 so far for July! I am going to post a separate thread with my report about yesterday's ride.

I'm going to strive for 20,000'. I am a huge wuss when it comes to hot weather and I'm terrible about getting up early to ride, so I have a feeling my overall mileage is going to go down this month unless we get some cooler weather.

Slight hijack...Sara, as soon as you left, we are now back to crummy, cold, overcast, gray-dome weather! You might have to move back here in order to save the climate and my sanity.

I talked to my poor mother today and she's very upset that it's cloudy and yucky again. They're going cruising around the San Juan's in a friend's boat starting tomorrow...I hope it clears up for them. And I hope it clears up for you too!

Well, send some of that crappy weather over this way Starfish! We could use a bit of overcast and cold!

DH was chatting with his dad tonight, and telling dear old dad, who was complaining about 95 (and in MN, that's NASTY hot, cuz it's humid too!) that we sure would like a 95 degree day for a change! Granted, we don't get as hot as you folks down in the southwest, but boy oh boy a 110 afternoon makes for hot biking!

I know, I keep telling myself I gotta stop complaining. But, I used to live in Pullman, and enjoyed a lot of summers going down to the river in 100 degree heat! I just like it hot in the summer and cold in the winter, and around here, it is just cold, damp and blah most of the time.

I am sorry for my complaining. I have to get a grip.

    July Mid-Way?

Well, we're about half way through July? How's everyone doing?

I got in another 7200 yesterday, so I am pretty pleased. I think my goal was 20,000, and right now I'm around 16,000, which sort of astonishes me.

I'd love to hear how it's going out there!

well, we did the Death Ride on saturday, with 15,058 per my Garmin, so I am probably close to 20k. not much riding planned for the rest of the month.

good job on your climbing this month, starfish!

The coach sez I need to get some climbing in, so climbing I shall do.
