I promised to give a review of the Landis book signing. I was going to add to the previous thread, but have decided to create a new thread since I was able to do more than just the book signing.
On Friday, I and DH were able to join Floyd on a ride through Harleysville. We had last minute notice but were able to take the day off. Floyd came to a local supermarket to do a meet and great and then a free ride. He had a Q & A session which was brief with all the usual questions about the tour. There was no new information given. Then we started what was supposed to be a fun ride.
Well, I was able to keep pace for about 10 minutes, the pace was around 20 miles/hr on some serious climbs. Not a fun ride pace in my book, but no big deal. I managed to hook up with a woman who knew the area and we took a short cut back. I was able to get a few shots, including one with me.
After the ride, there was an autograph session. Floyd was very personable and pleasant. He signed anything we brought. He even signed my Lemond!!! He signed my husband's bike as well. Overall, it was a great opportunity and I would do it again.
Tonight was a book signing in West Chester. Floyd was great. He took questions from the audience. Again, no real new information but he seemed so genuine and honest. He did say that he has been all over the world and now he knows that Pennsylvania really isn't that bad. He does have good sense of humor and answered all questions, even one about how he felt about Greg LeMond as a cyclist as well as a person. He said he felt LeMond was one of the greatest cyclists ever and was even an inspiration for him. As a person, he again stated he doesn't really know LeMond as a person. I took my son to the signing and Floyd posed with him. Andrew wouldn't talk to him despite telling me that he was going to tell Floyd that he rides really fast and will win the Tour de France one day too.
I would reccommend going to a book signing if you can. Check his site, new dates have been added.
Here are some pictures of the weekend:

You gals rock that get to participate in these events and activities. I live so far out in hicksville that it takes like 6 hours to get to anything major. That is so cool about the signing and pics. Thanks for sharing.
TOO WAY COOL!!!!
You know I am not a movie star crazer, famous people to me are no big deal, they put their pants on the same way as me. But people like Floyd who rode like he did with a bum hip, and Lance who came back like he did after cancer, inspiring people like that. Those kind of people I would love to meet.
The guy that carry's his son in Triathlon's, he's someone I would like to meet.
Donna
DDH, I feel the same way you do about famous people in general. But, high profile athletes like Floyd and Lance are truly inspirational. When some one has such passion about something that they are willing to do whatever it takes to reach a goal is amazing. Floyd's story is inspiring. His family didn't want him to cycle and tried so hard to keep him off the bike, yet his passion was so strong that he did it anyway. If you don't know his background, look into it.
The event was worth my time. Although, each event was only 30 minutes from my home. Of course, Floyd was raised only 1 hour from my house too! His sister got married Saturday which is why he was in our area. His original book tour dates only had a few signings in PA and all centered around this weekend.

Actually it is a weatherproof paint pen. I also had a yellow one for DH's bike. I actually left the pens there since so many others wanted to borrow them. I am not sure how many people wanted hot pink, but I am sure the yellow was used frequently.
Also, when Floyd signed my bike he said "who is this guy?" when he saw my bike. I professed complete ignorance and told him I had never heard of any one by the name Lemond!!
We, ie DH, are/is going to the Washington one. I have to work until 8:30pm so unless I connive enough to get out early, he will go without me. I'm off sun-tues and travel isn't an issue so I'm looking for other cities but nothing looks convenient on the days I'm off. Alas. Sucks to be me?
DH has a Lemond. He is seriously toying with the idea of getting it signed. He might have to feign ignorance![]()
Mimi-I am occasionally quick enough to think of something good. Actually, if he had questioned me, I was going to put the blame on my LBS- I really wanted a Trek, but the fit guy said the LeMond fit me better.
teigyr- Floyd seems to have a good sense of humor perhaps DH could say something like he heard a rumor about some LeMond guy that might have won a big tour a few times.
Hey Amy!
I was at the West Chester signing too- right in the front row (got there early like a dork). I thought he was darling- exactly as I thought he'd be.
The book tour and all the defense fundraising must be exhausting, especially since this year was supposed to be about major fanfare, endorsements etc. I think he's handing it all well.
I'm kind of dreading the ruling that's due any day now. . .
I know what you mean about dreading the decision, although the UADA has an unbeaten record so I am not hopeful!![]()
