Question Champion brand jerseys & shorts

    To disable ads, please log-in.

Does anyone know how the fit runs on the Champion jerseys & shorts? It's a company that does mostly custom team orders and such, although they do have a few items in retail outfits (like the Graham Watson jerseys). Their fit guide only uses waist size for the shorts, so I have no idea how that will translate to hip size. And after my last Voler jersey order, which ran way bigger than the size chart indicated, I'm a little leery of size charts.

Champion as in Champion Systems clothing? If that's what you mean, my team uses them for our uniforms. I'm not particularly fond of their stuff, but that's just my own opinion.

In terms of size.... I'm 5'5.5" and 124 lbs; 32C or 34B; size S shirts; size 4 pants. We have the race cut jersey and I wear a size S and for the women's bib shorts I wear a size M. That combo fits me perfectly.

If you have the option, choose the jersey without elastic on the bottom or sleeve hems. Their jersey cut is a little too short (IMO) in the torso length so if you're wearing it the damn thing will slide up to your elbows in about .2 seconds. ...they're okay as long as you don't move at all. Their bib shorts are okay...the chamois is somewhat thin, leg length goes about 2/3 of the way to your knee, elastic keeps them in place nicely, the material however is relatively thin on the shorts and shows wear/fading after a year. Whatever you do make sure it doesn't have white as a background color! (we had those last year and absolutely regretted it...98% see through )

That's my evaluation of Champion Systems clothing. Our team used them for last year's and this year's clothing company. They did have big improvements in their products since last year but I still don't love them (yet?).

Yes, that's the brand. Thanks so much for the feedback, equus, very timely as I need to put in my order today! My company is ordering some team kits from them for a 5-day event ride. We don't really have a choice in type of jersey (or design! I'm praying for non-white background!) but there is a "women's cut" whatever that means (more curves I hope). For the women they are ordering regular shorts, not bibs.

Did you find the size charts running true to size? I'm about your weight but 3 inches shorter so probably more weight distributed around the boobs & butt. I wear Pearl Izumi shorts in a size M, but it looks like I might need a L in the Champion System based on their charts.

Good info, equus. I was wondering about Champ Sys because, like BikeDutchess, I had to place an order for an company event kit. I actually went with the Men's xs jersey and s bibs because I find Women's cycling apparel to be a bit short for me.

BikeDutchess, interesting coincidence that we both have to have our Champ Sys orders in by today for a company-sponsored bike tour? Or do we work for the same company...?

    lol

welcome, glad i could help i found that they do run to size so you are probably either a M or L in the shorts. one thing to remember though is the different factors that affect sizing for the shorts...probably diameter of the torso and leg pieces, length of the leg, height of the torso, size of the chamois, etc. it would be tough to choose which size to go with because the L might have the more volume (if that's what you might need) but it might be too long or tall (if that makes sense). would it hurt to order one or two extra jerseys and shorts in case somebody needs a different size than the one they ordered? just a suggestion. we def do that for our team and it always comes in handy!

ohmyspokes -- your location would make sense as I believe we have an office there! This event wouldn't go by the acronym HAT, now would it? If so, do a company directory search with prefix 583, located in UT, I bet you would find me! Too funny if I were to meet a TE'er this way. I'm on the short side so hopefully the shorter length in the women's sizes won't be an issue for me.

equus -- thanks for your suggestions. Not sure if our event director would order extras although I'll make the suggestion!

ohmyspokes, that's great! I'm so excited about the HAT -- can't believe we'll get to ride for 5 days (and get paid for it! mmm, that would almost make us ... pro-riders... )

I asked the event director about the background color and apparently they had a bad experience last year too, because he specifically told the designer this year NOT to use white as the background. Phew!
