Very sore %$#^& on bike ride

I have an embarrassing question...I went on a long ride, 65km. Half way, my ^%$ got so sore, it felt like someone cut it with a knife. I couldn't even pee, it hurt so bad. Did this ever happen to any of you. It is very painful. I have a Giant OCR 3, very comfy seat, never happened before.

Apperently it's NOT a "very comfy seat". For longer rides, anyway.
You might do well to go to the "Gear & Accessories" part of the forum:

and read the various threads on most liked and most hated saddles. You'll read a LOT of good info on pain in the "^%$" 's there.

    Different shorts from the usual?
The half-way point longer than you're used to?
    Slower ride than normal?
Seat height change or other position changing adjustment?
    Chamois Butter or like?

And like Lisa said, a seat that's good for shorter rides can be torture on longer stuff, like my original road bike saddle was.
I used to have an open mind but my brains kept falling out.

I would recommend getting Astroglide for your lady parts. It is available in almost any pharmacy as it is used for a lubricant for, well, um, er, the "funky monkey dance" . That coupled with chamois butter should get you slicked up and riding fine. If not, try moving your saddle a bit.

And if that doesn't stop the pain, then try moving your saddle even more...over to the dumpster!

    (Sorry, couldn't resist!)

Seriously though...first try some lube as a cheap fix. Try tipping the nose of your saddle up or down 1/4". Try a different pair of shorts. If those things don't stop the awful pain on longer rides- time to try a different saddle. Read the saddle threads here at TE- it's better to read comments from actual women than to rely on what some man at the bike shop tells you is good for women. He's just selling what's in stock in the store, remember.

The orig saddles on Giants and Treks are awful- I traded mine out b/f I left the shop to a Trek WSD womans saddle w/ cutout. It's not perfect, but Much better than the original. Jenn

Astroglide and slathering the chamois of my shorts with Curel or Aveeno lotion does the trick for me. There is still sometimes a little discomfort "down yonder" on longer rides or if I'm doing lots of climbing, but it's not the burning, searing pain I was having before. And no more saddle sores since I got the Astroglide. I NEVER want to have another saddle sore as long as I live!

If it's a comfy seat, and this has never happened before, the simple explanation could be that a bit of pee got on your chamois. That feeling of being cut with a knife is exactly what happens then for the rest of your ride.
