    OMG! I managed to . . . .

sync all the phone numbers in Outlook to my new cell phone and actually have a name associated with each. I may figure out this technology stuff yet.

BikerZ will be sooooooo proud of me.

I should probably go find some dinner now.

So...how, in 10 words or less?

Well, first of all, I waited until the old phone broke because I didn't know what to do for fear I'd loose critical info in Outlook.

This time around I copied the company name into the first name field.

And then I prayed a lot.

Somehow I didn't end up with 200 numbers with no identifying info. Don't ask me how. I'm just grateful to the cell phone gods.

I even found a few stray ones that I had missed copying the company name and corrected those. I didn't end up with duplicates.

For the Dear So and So thread:

Dear Nokia Software Programmers, has it dawned on you yet that we look up phone numbers by both personal name and company name? It would help if your software would accomodate this, I know, way super very unique way of storing data.

It's a good day. I even managed to insert a new card and copy maps to the GPS withonly 3 panic emails to Veronica.

I count myself technologically advanced and I've never been able to do that!

How did I miss this momentous event?

SK - I am indeed quite proud of you! <sniff>

Your next task, should you choose to accept, will be to assign a specific ringtone to certain contacts...

(I'm just kidding - I don't even know how to do that! )
    Keep calm and carry on...

Ooh, ooh, I know more geeky stuff than the great BikerZ? My goodness.

Yes, Bubba has his own ringtone on my new phone. Doesn't mean I recognize when he's calling me. In the middle of last night team building event (find The Crime Boss and his hostage, one of our VPs) I turned to someone and said why doesn't someone answer that?

Nah, that's just very cold teeth

As for transfer numbers from one phone to the other:

Take smart-chip from old Cingular phone, pop into new phone. Numbers, messages, pictures....all there.

That...and a two year contract with hefty early termination fee is how they get me to stay. Can't manage anything more complex.

    Thanks, Trek, but . . . . .

    1) I was changing carriers, and
    2) I didn't want to transfer the data from the old phone because I would have had about 200 numbers with no company name attached.

    Good job SK

I'm lucky if I have last names in there much less company names.

I file most things by first name but Knott in my cell phones memory is filed under KnottedYet what did you say your name is? Where Spazzdog and Bikerz are under real first names but no last .... I have one slot for manager in my Dept that just says "Manager de Jour" because it changes so often.
