So, Southernbelle and I went out this morning at 6:45 in the AM headed towards a small town called Hartsville. We occured several livestock animals and a llama farm along the way.
Once to Hartsville, we stopped at the town courthouse where we saw the [official] flood mark of 1927; this may be doomed to repeat itself seeing as how some of the dams around here are leaking due to limestone construction.
We toured the town, but while going up a rather steep hill, Susan tried to change gears and could not muster another pedal: SHE FELL OVER. After dog bites, dead people, and now falling over on the bike while clipped in and dropped the chain. She has some small but semi-serious scrapes which were remedied with alcohol wipes. She'll be okay though.
So we rode back without incident and did 32.+ miles.
