    Holy Gloves

I realized to today that I had worn holes into my pearl izumi biking gloves. I bought them in the begining of last summer, so they are about a year old. I know gloves are probably the least expensive part of cycling (aside from the tap water I fill my water bottle with), but I'm really disappointed, especially from a such a well known brand. Has anyone else had this problem? Can anyone reccomend to me a sturdier pair of gloves that won't have holes worn into them?

Yep. I bought a pair of Pearl Izumi's ($55) in summer of 2005, wore them for six months, and the gel pads peeled loose and fell off. Wore holes in the places were there were no pads, too. I also have a pair of Bell gloves I got at WalMart for $15; got them in 2004 and I'm still using them today (although they're finally beginning to wear out). They were very comfy right from day one. No more Pearl Izumi's for me.

My LBS just got some Bell's in....the classic old school style with real leather palms and crochet back. They'll be my next pair.

PS- another brand I can recommend is Netti. Very comfortable and so far, way more durable than Pearl's.

I really like my Specialized Body Geometry gloves. I have the lightly padded "Sport" model and the smooshy-gooshy "Gel" model.

They suit my hands nicely, and are pretty darn durable. (I buy men's sizes, women's might be different)

Me too, bought a pair of PIs last summer. Wore them for about 7 months and had holes and the gel pad started to fall out. Very disappointing. I still love their shorts tho.

I just tend to use what's on sale but right now I have Performance brand gel (I think, anyway the padding is good) and they've lasted forever. I got them, I believe, when the gloves were two pairs for $15 or something like that.

I've had the old-school ones with the crochet back. Made me have THE most interesting tan lines ever That and they hurt when I wiped my nose with the back.

Specialized "Pro". LOVE THEM. (note: I wear men's small--I'm not 100% sure if they have these for women. Some other models should be about as comfy for padding, but I like that the Pros don't have velcro tabs.)
